6-12 month contract with extensions
We are currently looking for Python Developers for urgent new roles working in central London. This is a Greenfield project so they are looking for skilled developers who have started projects from scratch and led teams on recent projects.
This is a 6- 12 month contract. £500 - £550 p/d
You will have demonstrable experience of developing reproducible ETL pipelines in code, using tools such as SQL, Python, Apache Spark, R, or similar. You will bare an experienced user of a version control system, preferably Git. You will have experience working with semi-structured data sources and/or data from administrative or transactional systems, and transforming this data into structures suitable for use by analysts and data scientists, or by BI tools. You will have an awareness of automated testing techniques, modern software deployment approaches and how cloud infrastructure is managed
About the role
Design processes to automatically transform data from existing operational systems and new digital services, to improve the accessibility of data, its structure, and its timeliness. This will build trust in our data across the department.
Use modern software development practices to improve the maintainability, agility, reproducibility and quality of our data transformation pipelines, including building automated tests.
Work closely with analysts and data scientists to understand user need, implementing data models which enabling them to work faster and generate more powerful insights.

Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team and community
Help build and maintain a diverse, inclusive culture across the development community, growing awareness, inclusivity, and balance
Help with hiring, taking part in recruitment of data engineers and other related roles
Challenge entrenched practices and influence decision makers, and look for deeper underlying problems to solve, and larger opportunities for digital transformation
A systematic approach to solving problems
Experience using automated tests to continuously validate your work
Experience working in agile environments
Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and working in a multi-disciplinary team
A working knowledge of unix-like operating systems such as Linux and Mac OS X
