Java Software Engineer (Fintech)

South West London

£500 - £650 a day

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer from a transactional product engineering background to assist in the successful delivery of a market-leading solution for real-time payment processing. The Software Engineer is responsible for hands-on development of software applications, working at pace to resolve high impact, challenging, engineering problems while continuously raising quality standards. Using Java and AKKA, the Software Engineer will contribute to all aspects of the architecture and design for this innovative solution. Key Responsibilities:

Taking a key role in product engineering, following TDD and BDD Processes
Supporting architectural and design decisions as part of the engineering team
Writing high quality code within established development standards
Help automate our deployment pipeline using DevOps tools and processes
Break down, analyse and elaborate User Stories together with the Product Owner
Be part of a self-organizing Agile Team and participate in Scrum Ceremonies (e.g. help to demonstrate/review or plan work)

Desired Skills/Experience:

Excellent JAVA skills, building high availability/distributed systems using Java 8 / Akka / Spring skills
Experience with DevOps tools (and processes), such as Jenkins, Maven, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, AWS
Past experience delivering consumer facing and resilient software
Excellent knowledge of SDLC, comfortable working across the full stack
Previous experience with real-time messaging systems
