DevOps Engineer - 6 Months - West London - £480-£535 per day
We are currently looking for an experienced, proactive and dynamic DevOps Engineer to assist our mass media and broadcast client's Development Team to design and build their mainly Docker based platform, build convenience scripts for application deployment and support, integrate monitoring solutions and liaise with the core DevOps Team. Experience of Linux based DevOps engineering using Docker and Jenkins Continualisation is a must have.
Become proficient in all deployment, troubleshooting, support, design, and technical areas for the Development team. You should aspire to be the "go to" person for any technical requirement.Assist in the design, implementation, and support all development, QA, and pre-production integration environments. This includes providing application build out with "best practice" guidelines, granting access to individuals, application deployment support, and application troubleshooting.Be proactive developing deployment tools, application monitoring and support convenience tools for the Development Team to use during on-call team support (based upon a rotation rota).Mentoring and training Development team on Docker and Kubernetes practices and support techniques.Developing monitoring, support and housekeeping scripts, creating backup and replication strategies and mentor the Development Team to a level necessary to provide on-call supportYou must have hands-on extensive experience with Docker Containerisation as well as Terraform.It would be beneficial if you have had exposure to and experience with Kubernetes and Mesosphere (DC/OS).
You will have:
At least 2 years' DevOps experience in a large organisation.Experience working in an Agile environment.Demonstrable experience with Docker and familiar with immutable infrastructure concepts.Working knowledge of deployment frameworks such as Jenkins, monitoring frameworks like Prometheus, Grafana, Icinga or Nagios and code repositories such as Git.Comfortable working with Linux operating systems (e.g. CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu).Understand inter-process communication, devices and device drivers, file system concepts, permissions, inodes, symlinks, clustering and logical partitions.Solid experience managing load balancers. (SteelApp preferred)Experience with MongoDB, ActiveMQ, MySQL/Galera highly desireable.Good skills in programming languages such as bash, python or Go.Demonstrable communications, presentation, and negotiating skills are a must to advocate for DevOps and reliability concepts within a development team.
