My client is a FTSE 100 company, hiring a DevOps/SecOps engineer or a contract basis (6 months+), based in Central London
They are looking for a motivated and experienced SecOps Engineer to join their team in a challenging, evolving environment.
Forming part of their product delivery teams, this role requires the applicant to be broadly skilled in security technologies, with demonstrable experience that can be applied positively in an agile and fast moving delivery environment.
You will need to be proactive, willing to adapt, self-sufficient and responsive.
Strong communication skills and business acumen are crucial - whilst this is primarily a technical role it also presents a great opportunity to influence the future security approach in a rapidly growing, high-profile organisation.
What you'll be doing
Working in and alongside our development teams under guidance from our InfoSec team to champion security throughout the entire software lifecycle.
Design, build, and operate tools to enhance our security.
Be the first response and remediation for security-related incidents and participate in on-call rotation.
Consult, evangelise, and teach theoretical and practical security to groups of varying sizes, disciplines, and experience levels.
Contribute to threat models and risk registers.
Participate in code and architecture reviews.
4 or more years experience in a software engineering or security role
Excellent knowledge (3+ years) of AWS security.
Experience in defending against attacks in several areas of security
Experienced in *nix especially open source Linux distributions such as Ubuntu
Experience with automation using configuration management tools e.g. CloudFormation and Puppet
Proficient with scripting languages such as bash, python
Comfortable reading, writing and breaking code in languages including java, python or ruby
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
Strong and effective communication skills.
Other desirable experience
You understand security in distributed systems at scale
Experience with CI/CD concepts and systems
Good understanding of network security, firewalls, ACL's and IDS
Knowledge of user management systems integration e.g. AD, LDAP, OAuth, IAM
Experience with embedded devices, firmware optimisation, custom kernels, zigbee or similar network technology
Passionate about good software; active contribution to open source or personal projects on Github
A self-starter who knows how to RTFM
Easy to work with; open, honest, and good sense of humour
Upbeat and optimistic; comfortable celebrating failure when it leads to learning and iteration.
