My client are a Tier 1 Investment Bank with a need in their engineering team with strong scripting and automation skills to assist in the build-out of a new load-balancer environment within the firm.
The role will involve deploying new load-balancer appliances, integrating them with firm systems for centralised configuration management & monitoring as well as automation of common administration procedures.
Prior experience deploying and managing network infrastructure (ideally F5 or A10 load-balancer appliances) is preferable.
The role additionally involves:
Implementing automation tools that integrate with our proprietary configuration management frameworks (written predominantly in Perl and Python) to enable safe, robust self-service management of load-balancer infrastructure
Working with solution architects, operations, application architects and fellow engineers to provide a well-documented, monitored, stable and supportable environment.
Recommending changes to improve performance and stability at the configuration or code level Required Skills
Load-balancer or network appliance administration experience (ideally F5 and/or A10 load-balancers)
A firm understanding of O/S and networking concepts: Linux/Unix system administration, TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL and other related protocols
Infrastructure automation and integration experience, specifically with Perl, python and/or shell scripting languages
Comfort working at the command line in RHEL V4/V5/V6 64-bit Linux
Strong verbal communication and written documentation skills
Working knowledge of F5 or A10 configuration and APIs (F5's iControl and iRules or A10 axAPI and aflex rules)
Experience using source code control tools (ideally GIT)
Experience creating or using REST and SOAP APIs
Knowledge of virtualised and containerised infrastructure
Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks
