Role ID and Title: EGB19947 Digital Java DeveloperLocation: Stella House, Newcastle NE15 8NYDuration: ASAP to 31/03/2017Day Rate: £345 UMBRELLA or £276.09 PAYEClearance: BPSS and Disclosure ScotlandApplication Closing Date: 22nd March 2017 @ 09:00Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuild up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment.Implementing APIs for internal and external use.Take part in 2nd-line support of applications and platforms.Building server-side web applications and have detailed knowledge of HTML, Java 7, REST.Communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.Working as a part of a multi-discipline team dedicated to create the exemption checker tool, in addition to working closing with the existing Low Income Scheme team to ensure consistency.The team follows agile processes to prioritise and manage the activities.ExperienceEssential:Experience working with GDS design toolkits and frameworks.Experience and examples of delivering production ready code.Experience designing and implementing resilient and highly available infrastructure components.Experience of creating pipelines of work including automation of cloud deployments and developing infrastructure as code using terraform.Experience creating and implementing testing frameworks to simulate failure scenarios.Experience of designing and developing microservices.The team should have experience and knowledge of Terraform, puppet, github, java, Mongo, postgres, microservice architectures, cloud environments.Experience of aligning activities with other parallel work streams, ensuring quality standards are maintained.Experience of knowledge and skills transfer.Experience in Agile scrum and within iterative development projects, jira, confluence.Experience as a Full Stack Developer.Experience in orchestration products e.g. Ansible, Puppet.Have working knowledge of unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X.Have knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems.Have system administration and configuration management skills.Experience of handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage.Experience of designing and maintaining public HTTP APIs.Experience of building and scaling high-traffic websites.Experience using Responsive Web Design.Able to understand web architecture and have a working knowledge of Jackson, Jersey, MongoDB, Hibernate, DropWizard and Neo4j.Job Type: ContractSalary: £345.00 /day
